You know how it is, you go upstairs to the bedroom, walk in and come to a standstill. You can’t for the life of you remember what you came in there for. You are discussing your favourite Romcom movie with girlfriends and can’t remember the lead actors name. If you are at times finding it hard to focus and have trouble recalling simple words you can be fairly certain all these are more symptoms of peri-menopause !
Of course it’s natural as we age for our memory to not be quite as sharp as when we were young, but what you may not realise is how much our declining oestrogen levels are responsible.
We have oestrogen receptors in our brains that are neuro protective, so during our transition from Peri menopause to Menopause when hormones are fluctuating wildly and your oestrogen levels are dipping you may well experience this brain fog or menofog! So don’t be alarmed we are all feeling the same and the good news is things should improve as we come out the other side.
